Waste battery take-back arrangements
As a Producer, GYSUK will offer to take back waste industrial batteries from end users within a reasonable time during the compliance period, subject to:
-
The end user being supplied by GYSUK with new industrial batteries during the compliance period;
-
The end user being unable, for any reason, to return waste industrial batteries to the original producer; and
-
The waste product being of the same chemistry as industrial batteries first placed on the UK market by GYSUK in the compliance period or any of the preceding three years.
Nothing in the Regulations prevents a producer of industrial, automotive and motorcycle batteries from agreeing alternative arrangements to finance the net costs of collection, treatment and recycling that differ from those otherwise provided for in the Regulations.
Annual policy review
In accordance with the Regulations (including, as applicable, regulations 35 and 36(3)), GYSUK will review this policy annually on or before 1 December preceding each compliance period and publish the updated policy on its website.

GYSUK can supply account holders with appropriately labelled waste battery bins (chemistry/type dependent). When containers are full, collections will be arranged via authorised carriers at no cost to the customer.
Please do not mix industrial, automotive and motorcycle batteries or different chemistries in the same container.
